Today, Lt. Governor Aiona helps officially start the inaugural 2008 NASA/BAE Systems FIRST in Hawai`i Regional Robotics Competition.
The Lt. Governor will join Governor Linda Lingle and Dean Kamen,founder of FIRST, at the Stan Sheriff Center, where the event is free and open to the public.
More than 450 students on 25 teams representing high schools statewide have spent six weeks building robots and preparing for the competition.
The event will also feature 12 mainland teams from California, Florida, New Jersey and West Virginia.
