This month, Lt. Governor Aiona is helping raise awareness about the harmful of effects of underage drinking in Hawai`i.
As part of the effort, the state has formed a new partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and will use a $10.45 million federal grant to prevent and reduce underage drinking across the state.
The Lt. Governor said the public-private partnership with MADD-Hawai`i brings new resources and energy to curb underage drinking in Hawai`i, which leads the nation in the percentage of alcohol-related traffic deaths.
Also, April has been proclaimed as "Alcohol Awareness Month" in Hawai`i.
