This month, Lt. Governor Aiona is encouraging residents to protect humpback whales, Hawai`i's official state marine mammal.
The Lt. Governor's outreach is part of Humpback Whale Awareness Month in Hawai`i, home to the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary.
The sanctuary is considered the only marine protected area in the nation solely devoted to humpback whale protection.
