Today, Lt. Governor Aiona participates in a closing ceremony and awards presentation at the inaugural 2008 NASA/BAE Systems FIRST in Hawai`i Regional Robotics Competition.
The Lt. Governor joins Governor Linda Lingle and Dean Kamen, founder of FIRST, in recognizing the top performing and most inspirational teams at the event, designed to inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
More than 450 Hawai`i students are competing in the event at the 10,000-seat Stan Sheriff Center. They are representing 25 high schools with robotics teams from Maui, Kaua`i, the Big Island and Oahu.
