Today, Lt. Governor Aiona joined Governor Linda Lingle in jointly delivering a Mother's Day message to the people of Hawai`i.
"We are honored to pay tribute to mothers in Hawai`i and to recognize the valuable contributions they make to their families and our entire community," Governor Lingle and Lt. Governor Aiona said in the message. "People of all ages look to their mothers for love, guidance and wisdom. That's because mothers teach us lessons that remain with us for the rest of our lives. In addition to offering affection, mothers work hard to care for their families and to raise children who embody the values they themselves hold dear. In this way, they also show us how to be strong."
They added that they hope that families statewide "will join together in celebrating this Mother's Day. In addition, let us remember our mothers in uniform who are serving overseas and join together in keeping them, our troops and their families in our prayers."
