LT. GOVERNOR AIONA PARTICIPATES IN STATEWIDE TSUNAMI EXERCISE

April 2 - As part of the Administration's efforts to prepare Hawai'i residents for emergency disasters, Lt. Governor Aiona joined State Adjutant General Major General Robert Lee at a tsunami response exercise at the Emergency Operations Center at Diamond Head. The exercise involved mock messages from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, alerts to the government and other agencies from State Civil Defense Crisis Action Team members, and simulated reports on the progress of the damaging waves.

"We are conducting this exercise today to underscore the severity, importance and significance of what being prepared means," said Lt. Governor Aiona. "This exercise will reveal how our preparedness has improved and adjusted since the earthquake on October 15th of last year."
