LT. GOVERNOR SUPPORTS INNOVATION THROUGH STEM

April 3 - As part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration's commitment to foster innovation through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills, the Lt. Governor attended the 50th annual Hawai`i Academy of Science State Science and Engineering Fair. As a celebrity judge, Lt. Governor Aiona toured some of the 368 science projects prepared by outstanding students from around the state.

Lt. Governor Aiona also joined representatives from the Hawai`i Science and Technology Council to proclaim April 3 as Science and Technology Day in Hawai`i. The event showcased the innovation of Hawai`i's businesses and organizations in the science and technology fields, and featured outstanding student teams from around the state who has gained distinction through math, robotics and science competitions.

The Lt. Governor encouraged students to continue to excel in their STEM skills. "You have a special knowledge and skill that is not only a tremendous asset to our state, but to the world," said Lt. Governor Aiona. "These skills are needed to succeed in the future."
