STUDENTS ENCOURAGED TO DEVELOP STEM SKILLS
Aug 2 - The Lt. Governor addressed
students and teachers at the first annual H2 Grand Prix, a
culmination of weeks of work by recent high school graduates enrolled in
Kapi`olani Community College's Summer Bridge Program.
The event featured radio-controlled cars powered by hydrogen fuel cells,
and the Lt. Governor said the event is an example of the Administration's
vision for developing a more highly-skilled workforce.
"Our state's continued economic success depends on our ability to meet the
hiring needs of our future work force," said Lt. Governor Aiona. "More
programs like this are needed to help us achieve that goal."
The school's summer bridge program provides recent high school graduates
with a hands-on approach to developing science, technology, engineering and
math (STEM) skills, a major focus of the Hawai`i Innovation
Initiative.
