LT. GOVERNOR HONORED FOR STRENGTHENING FAMILIES

December 6 - Lt. Governor Aiona accepted an award from a non-profit group for his commitment to strengthening families across the state.

The Lt. Governor received the "Friend of the Family Award" from the Hawai`i Family Forum, an advocacy group for children and families in Hawai`i.

In accepting the award, the Lt. Governor said families play a critical role in helping to care for the elderly, look after the disabled, raise children with strong values and aid in recovery when problems arise with drugs, alcohol or mental health.

"I am fully committed to working each day to strengthen Hawai`i families," Lt. Governor Aiona said. "I believe they are the foundation for the future well-being of our state."
