LEEWARD YMCA OPENS AT OLD WAIPAHU SUGAR MILL

January 25 - Lt. Governor Aiona joined state, city, and community representatives at the opening of the Leeward YMCA. "I know that this facility will continue to build on the YMCA's motto to build strong families and communities for many generations," said the Lt. Governor. The Leeward YMCA is located at the home of the old Waipahu sugar mill and includes a six-lane heated swimming pool, fitness center, exercise and meeting rooms, after school mentoring and tutoring. Last year, Governor Lingle released $2,000,000 for the construction. Total cost of the project was $14.3 million.
