EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES COMMUNICATIONS CENTER
January 9 - The Lt.
Governor joined representatives from the federal, city, and private
sector at the opening of the City and County of Honolulu’s Emergency Medical
Services (EMS) Division's new communications center. “It is
important for the public and private sectors to work together as a team and
to support members of those who work everyday to save the lives of people,”
said Lt. Governor Aiona. The center, which was completed in two years, was a
collaborative effort between the federal, state and city governments,
Hawaiian Telcom, Pacific Wireless Communications and the Airport Industrial
Park Associations. ESD utilized more than $1 million in federal grant money
for the completion of the new center. The State Department of Health
contributed $18,000 for the construction of the center.
