MAMORU AND AIKO TAKITANI FOUNDATION AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS
June 16 - The Lt. Governor attended the Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation
Scholarship Awards Luncheon. The event honored top scholarship winners from
private and public high schools in the state. Winners were selected for
their outstanding academic achievement, community service and financial
need.
Lt. Governor Aiona discussed the importance of giving back to
Hawai`i’s communities and also discussed the Hawai`i Innovation Initative
that the Administration introduced this past session.
“You can be pioneers in fields including engineering and life
sciences, as well as help our industries grow,” Lt. Governor Aiona
said.
The Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation was established to provide
the gift of education to the young people of Hawai`i. Since 1993, the
foundation has awarded over $1.1 million in scholarships.
