UNITED CHINESE SOCIETY OF HAWAI`I HONORS MODEL PARENTS

July 1- Lt. Governor Aiona helped the United Chinese Society of Hawai`i honor “model” parents at an event that drew an estimated 1,100 guests.

In brief remarks, he recognized the two winners at the organization’s Golden Anniversary Model Parent Banquet at Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa.

Evelyn Lau, the wife of Finance Factors Chairman Daniel B.T. Lau, was named the 2007 Model Mother; and Peter P.J. Ng, an attorney and real estate agent, was named the 2007 Model Father. They were honored for committing themselves to family and charity as well as raising successful children who have excelled in such professions as banking and law.

“Respect for elders has been rooted in Chinese culture for thousands of years,” Lt. Governor Aiona said. “This award not only contributes to Chinese culture, but to all cultures here in Hawai‘i.”
