UNITED CHINESE SOCIETY OF HAWAI`I HONORS MODEL PARENTS
July 1- Lt. Governor Aiona helped
the United Chinese Society of Hawai`i honor “model” parents at an event that
drew an estimated 1,100 guests.
In brief remarks, he recognized the two winners at the organization’s Golden
Anniversary Model Parent Banquet at Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort
& Spa.
Evelyn Lau, the wife of Finance Factors Chairman Daniel B.T. Lau, was named
the 2007 Model Mother; and Peter P.J. Ng, an attorney and real estate agent,
was named the 2007 Model Father. They were honored for committing themselves
to family and charity as well as raising successful children who have
excelled in such professions as banking and law.
“Respect for elders has been rooted in Chinese culture for thousands of
years,” Lt. Governor Aiona said. “This award not only contributes to Chinese
culture, but to all cultures here in Hawai‘i.”
