SCHOLARS URGED TO VOLUNTEER FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE
July 11- Lt. Governor Aiona touted
the importance of volunteering for community service to some recent
scholarship winners from Mililani.
The students were the focal point of his keynote
address at the Rotary Club of Mililani Sunrise Installation Banquet, where
up to $6,000 in academic scholarships were awarded to high school seniors
from Mililani.
In his remarks, he told the students that helping
others is a way to "appreciate what you have and realize how blessed you
are. When you are volunteering, there is no time to feel lonely, guilty, or
afraid. Community service empowers you to better understand people, the
organization you are working with, and yourself."
