JUDICIARY BREAKS GROUND ON KAPOLEI FAMILY COURT
July 17- The Hawai`i Judiciary
announced the start of construction on the long-awaited Kapolei family court
complex, expected to serve more than 4,000 people weekly and bring about 350
jobs to the area.
Lt. Governor Aiona, a former family-court judge,
attended the ground breaking for the project, whose completion is set for
2010.
"This project for the people in the West O`ahu region is
very positive in terms of the jobs it will create and the court
services it will offer them," said Lt. Governor Aiona, who is a Kapolei
resident.
The Judiciary has been planning a new courthouse for the Family Court of the 1st Judicial Circuit for the past 15 years. Features of the project include more than 123,000-square-feet of space and the only juvenile detention facility in the state, housing more than 66 juveniles.
