LT. GOVERNOR AIONA ADDRESSES STUDENTS, TEACHERS AT STATEWIDE BOTBALL WORKSHOP

February 18 - “Innovations is important to the state and where we need to go in the global economy,” said Lt. Governor Aiona at the Statewide Botball Workshop. Botball is a hands-on educational experience in robotics designed to engage students in learning practical applications of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The workshop is a prelude to the 2007 Botball Hawai`i Regional on April 28 and the National Conference on Educational Robotics, which will include the national Botball tournament, from July 9 thru 13. Dr. David Miller, who led the workshop, created the Botball program through the KISS Institute for Practical Robotics. Increasing STEM skills among Hawai`i students is a key component of the Administration’s Hawai`i’s Innovation Inititative.
