LT. GOVERNOR SUPPORTS HAWAI`I TEAMS AT ROBOTICS COMPETITIONS

April 12-14 - In an effort to promote science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM skills, Lt. Governor Aiona joined students from Waiakea High School in Hilo and Moanalua Middle School in Honolulu at the 2007 FIRST National Robotics and LEGO League Competitions in Atlanta, GA.

Waiakea High School finished the FIRST Robotics National Competition with a rank of 24 out of 86 teams in their division. McKinley High School's robotics team, which was unable to attend the competition, won the 2007 FIRST Robotics' Championship Website Award.

"There is no question that Waiakea High and Moanalua Middle Schools' teams have opened some eyes, captured some hearts and have displayed the Spirit of Aloha," said Lt. Governor Aiona. "Both teams were great ambassadors for the Aloha State and made a great impression."
