GREATER CANCER AWARENESS URGED
November 3 - Lt.
Governor Aiona reached out to cancer patients and families in Hawai`i at the
8th annual American Cancer Society Boots on the Beach, a fundraiser to
support cancer patients and families in Hawai`i.
The Lt. Governor presented a commendation from the Administration to Chris
Pablo, a leukemia survivor who was honored by the American Cancer Society
for being an inspiration to cancer survivors.
Pablo was praised for being a strong advocate for people in need of bone
marrow transplants, ever since he was diagnosed with cancer on Mother's Day
weekend in 1995. He was also credited with motivating more Filipinos
to look beyond religious and cultural beliefs to become active donors.
"Chris Pablo inspires people with his positive attitude and personal
strength," said Lt. Governor Aiona. "He is a hero among cancer
survivors."
