Hawai`i Hosts Top Economic Forecasters

Three internationally-renowned investment experts gathered in Honolulu last week to present their views on the U.S. economy and financial markets.

The Third Annual Economic Forecast Dinner brought together Lt. Governor Aiona and financial experts from around the nation.

Lt. Governor Aiona opened the panel discussion, which was hosted by the Chartered Financial Analyst Program of Hawai`i for financial analysts, money manager and investment professionals. 


“This event helps position Hawai`i on the financial frontlines,” Lt. Governor Aiona said.

Janet Yellen, president and chief executive for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco; Brian Fabbri, chief economist for BNP Paribas; and Rich Gordon, managing director and fixed income market strategist for Wachovia Corporation provided their insights on the U.S. economy and the global markets.

This year, Hawai`i’s economy is expected to grow 2.9 percent. 

“We’re pleased that Hawai‘i can attract such renowned financial experts,” Lt. Governor Aiona told the panelists. “We appreciate your insights on the current financial environment and your ability to get to the bottom of what’s driving financial markets.”
