Students Encouraged to Reduce Underage Drinking

The Lt. Governor meets with students to discourage drunk driving.

The meeting was part of Youth in Action, a program sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). MADD’s Youth in Action program empowers high school students to take an action-based approach to limit youth access to alcohol.

Underage drinking is the most prevalent substance used by adolescents in Hawai`i, according to the Hawai`i Student Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Use Study.

“We’re working each day to bring about change so that Hawai`i’s keiki can grow in an environment where underage drinking is not acceptable, not tolerated and not cool,” Lt. Governor Aiona said.
