The Lt. Governor also praised the volunteers for offering their services to eight different state boards and commissions, including the Moloka‘i Irrigation System Water Users Advisory Board, the state Council on Mental Health and the Legacy Land Conservation Commission.

“These volunteers are making a difference in the lives of their fellow residents on Moloka‘i and around the state,” Lt. Governor Aiona said during the ceremony.

Statewide, nearly 1,300 people serve on more than 160 boards and commissions that cover a broad range of industries and issues. Moloka‘i residents are the latest to receive recognition from the Administration.

Within the past month, similar recognition was given to volunteers on O‘ahu, Maui, Kaua‘i, Kona and East Hawai‘i. “By volunteering their time and expertise to serve the public, they are helping to make our communities and state stronger,” Lt. Governor Aiona said.

Prior to the swearing-in ceremony for Moloka‘i board members and commissioners, the Lt. Governor attended the official opening of a new kitchen at Hale Mahaolu Home Pumehana, an outreach effort aimed at preparing healthy meals for elderly residents on Moloka‘i.
