Science Olympiad Advances STEM Education
Lt. Governor Aiona opened the 4th annual Hawai`i State Science Olympiad on Saturday at Leeward Community College. The tournament featured more than 150 students from 17 middle school and high school teams, a significant increase from two high school teams in the 2004 inaugural tournament.
Community Talk Story Held for Turtle Bay
Lt. Governor Aiona joined Governor Lingle on Tuesday for a community talk story session on the Administration's proposal to acquire and preserve the 850-acre Turtle Bay property, including five miles of pristine coastline on O`ahu's North Shore.
Public Health and Safety on National Agenda
In Washington, D.C., Lt. Governor Aiona participated in recent discussions to address public health and safety challenges, such as improving mental health services, promoting proper controls on exports of sensitive products and improving prisoner re-entry into the community.
State Reaches Out to Homeless Families
Lt. Governor Aiona joined the Wai`anae community in marking the one-year anniversary celebration of the Pai`olu Kaiaulu homeless transitional shelter for homeless families who had been living on beaches and parks along the Leeward Coast of O`ahu.

More than 700 students from Hawai`i and the mainland converged on the University of Hawai`i Stan Sheriff Center Thursday and Friday for the inaugural 2008 NASA/BAE Systems FIRST in Hawai`i Regional Robotics Competition.
