Supporting Education in Hawai`i's Marshallese Community
In the latest example of his support for education, Lt. Governor Aiona on Saturday helped honor Marshallese students who earned the limelight for their academic performance in public and private schools across the state.
Lt. Governor Aiona, in remarks at the 2nd Annual Marshallese Education Day at the University of Hawai‘i West O‘ahu Campus, applauded the accomplishment of the 25 students who all had at least a 3.0 grade point average.
The Lt. Governor praised the Marshallese students for helping to boost the Administration’s vision for a future built by skilled, productive workers, who could allow Hawai‘i to potentially lead the world in innovation that will shape the 21st century.
“Through hard work and dedication, these young people are improving their prospects for a brighter future and setting a path that will help make their dreams come true,” Lt Governor Aiona told about 150 people who gathered for the event organized by the Marshallese Education Day Committee.
Two days earlier, Lt. Governor Aiona visited the robotics team at Maui High School after its members returned home from Atlanta, where it represented Hawai‘i at an international tournament.
