Spreading the Power of Aloha in Hawai`i's Workplace
Lt. Governor Aiona gave a passionate talk to employees of a national drug-testing company about the "Spirit of Aloha" and sharing their goodwill with others.
The Lt. Governor’s June 17 presentation to more than 100 employees of the Diagnostic Laboratory Services represents a new phase of a program he developed in 2006 as a way to encourage residents to apply the Spirit of Aloha to their daily lives, including the decisions they make as well as the way they treat others.
“Aloha is a way of life,” Lt. Governor Aiona said. “It is through the core values of forgiveness, humility, patience, responsibility, honesty, commitment and discipline that we must learn how to co-exist and treat one another with love and respect.”
As part of his Aloha Card Program, Lt. Governor Aiona regularly visits schools around the state to speak with young people about making smart choices. Now the program has been expanded to include professionals, including those in the visitor industry, where the Lt. Governor hopes to have a positive impact on the state’s Visitor Satisfaction Surveys.
