Lt. Governor Helps Wrap Up Rodeo Season in Hawai`i
Another rodeo season in Hawai`i came to an end Saturday with Lt. Governor Aiona offering his support to cowgirls statewide who demonstrated their riding skills in the annual All-Girls Rodeo.
The all-day event drew an estimated 1,000 spectators to the Kualoa Ranch in Ka`a`awa.
The event, in its 18th year, also provided a forum for rodeo competition among cowgirls, who charged through the arena gates with high spirits and thundering hooves.
Lt. Governor Aiona praised their display of Paniolo heritage, which is steeped in Native Hawaiian traditions and culture. In addition, the Lt. Governor applauded their display of spectacular routines that launched crowds of people to their feet.
The Hawai`i Women's Rodeo Association sponsored the event.
