PUC Financial Reports
Financial reports filed with the State Public Utilities
Commission (PUC) by motor carriers and public
utilities must be made public. Section 271-11, Hawaii Revised Statutes,
provides that the statistics,
tables, and figures in the annual or other reports of motor carriers
filed with the PUC shall be
preserved as public records. Additionally, because of the PUC’s
long-standing practice of disclosing
financial reports filed by public utilities, the OIP found that
such reports were not protected by any of
the UIPA’s exceptions.
