Department of Hawaiian Home Lands
Overview
The State Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) received $10,200,000.00 in ARRA funds through the Native Hawaiian Housing Block Grant (NHHBG) as authorized by the Native American Housing Assistance and Self Determination Act (NAHASDA) and as administered by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
In accordance with the 2008 Native Hawaiian Housing Plan (NHHP), DHHL will utilize the ARRA funds for infrastructure development on DHHL projects that are “shovel ready” – projects in which the ARRA funds can be obligated and expended within the allotted time frames. This will benefit the State economy by creating jobs, promoting economic recovery, and assisting with the State’s fiscal situation. By using ARRA funds in this manner, DHHL will be able to assist beneficiaries with homeownership opportunities, maximize State and Trust dollars, and maximize the amount of ARRA resources available to Hawaii.
DHHL will comply with all accountability, transparency requirements and reporting requirements.
