As the convening agency of the ARTS FIRST Partners, the HSFCA supports the development and distribution of and training for "An Essential Arts Toolkit for the K-5 Classroom Teacher." To download a copy from the Hawai‘i Arts Alliance website, click on Toolkit; or visit the DOE website and click on The Arts Toolkit, where you will be able to access the various chapters separately. With the ARTS FIRST Partners, the Arts Education Program supports professional development workshops in the fine arts for classroom teachers, and selection and training of teaching artists.

Arts education is improving in Hawai‘i. For the most recent developments, read the ARTS FIRST Progress Report 2007-2008 and the ARTS FIRST Strategic Plan 2006-2010. The progress report has data on strategy, action steps, and accomplishments on the ARTS FIRST Strategic Plan.
