2013
Outstanding Student Achievement
in Contemporary Sculpture Awards,
sponsored by the International
Sculpture Center. Each year the
International Sculpture Center
presents an award competition to
its member colleges and
universities as a means of
supporting, encouraging, and
recognizing the work of young
sculptors and their supporting
schools’ faculty and art program.
The Student Award winners
participate in an exhibition at
Grounds For Sculpture, as well as
a traveling exhibition hosted by
arts organizations across the
country. Winners’ work is also
featured in Sculpture magazine.
Each winner receives a one-year
membership at the ISC and all
winners are eligible to apply for
a full sponsored residency to
study in Switzerland. To nominate
students for this competition, the
nominees’ university must first be
an ISC University level member.
University Membership costs $200
for universities in the USA,
Canada and Mexico, or $220 for
international universities, and
includes a number of benefits.

Call
for Nominations: 2013 National
Medal of Arts. Nominations
are now being accepted for the
2013 National Medal of Arts, the
highest award given to artists,
arts organizations, and arts
patrons in the United States. The
American public may nominate
artists and arts patrons for this
award through the National
Endowment for the Arts' website.
Nominees for a National Medal of
Arts must be U.S. citizens with a
distinguished professional career
that merits receiving the U.S.
government’s highest award.
Competitive nominees will be
familiar to reviewers so the
purpose of the nomination is to
remind reviewers that a nominee
should be considered. Nomination
deadline: APRIL 5, 2013.

Since the inception of the
National Medal of Arts in 1984
under President Reagan, 290
individuals have been honored,
including Ralph Ellison, Georgia
O’Keeffe, Meryl Streep, Van
Cliburn, Twyla Tharp, Tina
Ramirez, as well as architects,
designers, arts educators,
directors, and composers.
Request
for Qualifications: City of
Roanoke, Virginia. The
City of Roanoke, Roanoke Arts
Commission and the Greater Roanoke
Transit Company seek artist’s
qualifications or artist teams to
design, fabricate and install an
artistic bus stop shelter in the
Hurt Park neighborhood and this
request is strictly for
qualifications only. The art work
will be located at corner of 13th
Street and Salem Ave. SW. and
shall reflect the history and
spirit of the Hurt Park
Neighborhood. This project is open
to all artists and artist teams,
age 18 and over, who are residents
of the United States. Submission
deadline: APRIL 5, 2013. The

Artist-in-Residence
Studio (A.I.R. Studio)
in Paducah, Kentucky is accepting
applications from visual artists,
writers and composers for its
2013-14 program year. The program
welcomes self-motivated, focused
artists working in a range of
traditional and non-traditional
media.The duration of the
residency is two weeks to three
months. Collaborative artists and
emerging artists are encouraged to
apply. Applicants must be 21 years
of age or older. The residency
affords the artist time and space
for focused, independent studio
work, the development of new ideas
and experimentation. A.I.R. Studio
also features gallery space for
exhibiting work during the
residency. Opportunities to work
in collaboration with other
artists and galleries in the
Paducah community are often
available.Visiting artists may
also conduct workshops, for the
public, during their residency.
The studio space and living
quarters are handicap accessible.
The studio area features a large,
open workspace and is not media
specific. Accommodations may be
made upon request for residents
requiring access to specific
studio equipment. Living quarters
include a sleeping area,
kitchenette, and bathroom. The
space is snug but large enough to
accommodate a couple. Applications
accepting on an ongoing basis.

Looking@Democracy:
Digital Media Competition
seeks short, provocative digital
media content designed to spark a
national conversation about how we
can all come together to
strengthen American democracy. A
total of $100,000 in prize money
in 5 categories will be awarded.
Sponsored by the Illinois
Humanities Council, with support
from the John D. and Catherine T.
MacArthur Foundation. Submission
formats can be short videos, audio
clips, animation, music videos,
public service announcements,
infographics, graphic art, even
Facebook and iPhone apps. Submissions
will be accepted beginning
February 4, 2013 with the
submission deadline of APRIL 16,

The USArtists International
Program provides support
for American dance, music, and
theater ensembles and solo artists
invited to perform at significant
international festivals or
engagements that represent
extraordinary career opportunities
anywhere in the world outside the
United States and its territories.
The guidelines and new online
application are now available for
the 2013 USArtists International
(USAI) program. Upcoming

19, 2013 for projects
taking place between July 1, 2013

for Artists: 6x6x2013
Exhibition. Rochester
Contemporary Art Center’s (RoCo)
sixth annual 6x6
exhibition celebrates original
“small art” from all 50 states and
over 35 countries. Each artwork
must be 6x6 square inches (15cm)
or mounted to a 6x6 board, and
signed only on the back, to be
exhibited anonymously. All entries
will be accepted, exhibited and
will be for sale to the public for
$20 each (in the gallery and
online for global purchasing) to
benefit RoCo. Artworks are on
display from June 1 - July 14,
2013. Anyone may enter up to 6
artworks of any medium (2D or 3D)
and there is no fee. Submission
postmark deadline: APRIL 20,

Call
for Artists: Commission in
Charlotte, North Carolina. Hodges
Taylor Art Consultancy of
Charlotte, NC is seeking a
professional artist to be
commissioned to create artwork for
the new atrium wall at Temple Beth
El in Charlotte. Two and three
dimensional work in any media
except stained glass will be
considered, but must be designed
for wall installation and should
exemplify the mission and vision
of Temple Beth El. The budget for
the commission is $25,000
including delivery and
installation. Submission

The French-American Jazz
Exchange (FAJE) is a
partnership of the French-American
Cultural Exchange and Mid Atlantic
Arts Foundation (MAAF) designed to

projects. MAAF offers free
webinars to assist potential grant
