Hawai‘i is home to cultural traditions and history that serve as a source of deep pride for all of our residents. Our relationship with the United States – including Hawai‘i’s admission into the union in 1959 – has become an inextricable part of our islands’ more recent history and strongly influenced who we are today.
With over 2,100 participating delegates, the 50th Anniversary of Statehood brought the citizens of this great state together along with national
and international leaders to help define what Hawai‘i means to the world. This event served as a launching pad as we forged our future and
reached out for New Horizons for the Next 50 Years.
